What's crackalackarackin?

I enjoy chatting with you in the chat room, which seems to happen quite often. Nothing beats a good discussion about Art Bell...
What's not to like about a guy who spends two hours in the chat room with a name like Titus_pandering_for_AD?

CruisingRam is unlike anyone I've ever debated with, he is a unique combination of liberalism, conservatism, and libertarianism. You can't actually lable him in anyway. He articulates his arguement well, backs it up with evidence and argues it well. Too bad you're not a conservative...

Hope to see more of you Cyan, it's always fun debating with you and it never gets personal.

CP Is a libertarian. That makes him one of the "good guys" in my book.
What I like the most about CP is when he has personal views that differ from his libertarian philosophy (rarely) and reason is lost because of those personal beliefs (even more rarely) he has the integrity to point this out (it gives me hope that he will see the light one day

).
His ability to look at an issue from a totally different perspective can be quite enlightening to all sides of the political spectrum by forcing them to consider their own view points a little more closely.
Most importantly, he is a REALLY nice guy!

NXS is new here but he likes us indy's! That's cool in my book! I look forward to reading his/her (doesn't say on profile) posts.
Mrs. P- she is well spoken (written), calm and rational debater who always backs up her stand. She represents the slightly conservative, independent, libertarian leaning population in such a cool way. I enjoy reading her posts, even if I don't agree, and have a lot of respect for what she has to say.
I bet she is cool to hang out with too!

What can one say about Amlord? Aside from being one of the most handsome men at AD, he has one of the strongest Republican voices. I always smile when I see his lion avatars appear on my screen, because I know I am going to learn something. His posts are always supported with documentation. In addition, he is a wonderful moderator who is always willing to work with members and the staff.

Cyan,
Thanks for starting this thread. PE was asking me if what we say here makes a difference, and I was comparing the number of posts in a thread to the number of views. I was trying to impress on her that we may not change anyone's mind on the forum itself, but we may be influencing any number of visitors and browsers.
This thread had 115 Posts and 2,817 views when I was checking the stats. It sounds like people are even willing to search the Internet just to hear something nice being said.
When I first joined America's Debate, Jaime PMed me immediately to tell me that I could only use a single identity on the site. I explained that I was not Paladin Elspeth, that I was simply using her computer. I got a very warm note back from her. Cyan was one of the next people to welcome me to the forum, and taught me a few things which helped me feel more comfortable here.

Hi, Mudge. Thanks for the kinds words. They are certainly appreciated, but don't forget the rules of the game. When you post in this thread, you're supposed to say something nice to the person who posted before you. :wink2
I'll cover both Redliner and Curmudgeon, two people that have been a joy to interact with on America's Debate.
Redliner, I haven't had the opportunity to correspond with you much outside of the debates, but in Casual Conversation, you are always friendly and fun. You should bring that shining personality to that chatroom, and I promise that we won't bite hard.
Curmudgeon, you are one of the most interesting people on AD. I always enjoy reading your posts, because you have a fine storyteller living inside that mind of yours.

This is nice. I get to do a double for two of my favorite people.
Cyan was the first person to welcome me here when I first joined. She has always bent over backwards to be warm and kind and friendly. We seem to have much in common, and she is very easy to talk to. I admire her artistic talents, and her gentleness. (Besides, we're going to appear together as Morticia and Ophelia in the next version of the Addams Family.)
moif and I have known each other before I ever came to AD. He is also a person of many talents, both author and artist. Intelligence, wit, compassion, and playfulness combine to produce that rare quality known as charm. On other message boards, I have seen a large number of young women eagerly respond to his messages, which have a special kind of magnetism.
I'm the luckiest fool in the world to have such friends.

mpfeif101, what can I say about him?
Unfortunately not alot, as we have not crossed paths on AD as yet. However, I researched some of you posts.
First, we would likely disagree in many areas. However, from what I have seen he are anything BUT disagreeable and that is a plus in my book.
Second, he likes Christopher (not like that), so it shows he is a good judge of (a) character.
Lastly, I like the feel of his posts. I like the laid back, "this is what I think" feel to them. Devoid of drama. I appreciate the tone of his posts, even when I disagree with them and I wish I could maintain that cool exterior more often then I do.
All in all he would see to be a great new addition to the USS Americas Debate. Welcome Aboard

Overlandsailor, you have really been a great addition to the AD family. Right from the start, you seemed to 'get it' - the idea that we can all share differing opinions with civility and respect. You have been consistently open-minded and thoughtful. I thought we might have lost you there, briefly, and must say I am very glad you are here.
Hobbes
Jul 22 2004, 06:58 PM
Quarkhead makes this one almost too easy--he is probably one of the most admired and respected posters here at AD--and with good reason. Quark consistently demonstrates that one can get their point across without belittling opposing views, and that one can be both passionate and objective. He is well informed about, well, everything, it seems (do you sleep?), and strives to present issues in ways that unite, rather than divide. Although I occasionally, (well, alright, frequently) tend to view things from a different perspective, I have never come away from reading his posts either feeling any animosity or without probably being the smarter for having read it. He typifies everything that is good about forums like this.

Hobbes, well now here is a person that is easy to say something nice about.
Hobbes is a reasonable human being that looks at issues on an individual basis and not a partisan one. Though his profile lists him as a conservative republican he is no ideologue. He is one of those rare individuals that belongs to a party because the party comes closest to representing their ideals while not shying away from pointing out when the party is wrong in their eyes.
I frequently learn something, or am forced to look at something from a new point of view because of postings from
Hobbes. His reasoned approach to most issues is a example to follow.
Also, I was very pleased to see
Hobbes enter the ranks of the Committee, he as well as the other new additions will be nothing but a benefit to the site as well as the posters. GREAT choice people!
Lastly, I hate to see this thread end because someone always gets stuck holding the bag. "Did no one have anything nice to say about me?" If this thread must die, then let it die here, with my post. I already know I'm an opinionated jerk

overlandsailor, I always enjoy reading your posts, even if (when) we disagree. I echo
Quarkhead's assessment of your open-mindedness and thoughtfulness. Your sources are good, too. Remember, if people didn't have opinions, there would be no need for a debate thread. And, based on what I have read, you are certainly not a jerk. Your contributions help hold the fabric of this board together. I could not let this thread die with your post.

Paladin ElspethFirst, how can you find fault in someone who likes roleplaying games?
No, we don't always agree, and I do so enjoy reading posts from
PE when she has her dander up

But she is a classy lady and I always look forward to her post regardless of her opposition or support of mine.
One thing I really like about
PE is that she is so straight forward. She does not play politics with her opinions, she does no obfuscate and she does not smooze. How she feels and thinks is how she feels and thinks and you will know exactly where she stands by simply reading her posts or asking her.
PE was something of a paradox to me. Some of her positions seemed to conflict with others. But, that is simply because she is not an all or nothing ideologue. She looks at each individual issue and judges it based on her beliefs, experience, intellect and moral compass. She can keep ya guessing.
A great lady all around, gotta love her.

I like Overlandsailor and I think he's a great addition to these boards - like others here, I like and admie the way he can stay level headed and on-topic while sticking to his guns in debate, even when he's a lone voice. I don't always agree with what he

Julian, I find myself in agreement with you just about all the time. You bring to this forum a different point of view, a reminder that we in the US don't know everything, nor do we have God on our side, nor do we have some kind of monopoly on being right. Your posts are always clear and to the point, often getting right down to where we are vulnerable. I've gone off on Internet research binges because of things you've written.
Great sense of humor too. I raise my pint to you and to this thread. Well, it's morning, I'm running late, and so it's a tepid cup of java.

carlitoswhey What an interesting name. Really wish I knew what it meant.
CW and I have not crossed paths much. However, I do like what I have seen to date.
He is another Independent an Reasonable voice!! Something AD seems to have more then it's fair share of. I'll bet
CW has the same number of people that dislike him on the left as dislike him on the right. Way to be!! I'm right there with you.
CW has a way of cutting through all the partisanship, and Biases and Identifying the actual problem. Recently, he even went as far as to suggest enforcing existing laws rather than creating new ways to deal with the same problems. How Radical!!
I appreciate
CW. I like his even handedness, his obvious over abundance of commonsense, and his non-confrontational style.
CW is a wonderful example of how to conduct yourself on AD.
Now, I was suggesting that we let this topic end with me because I have this rather strange compulsion not to allow this thread to end on anyone else. It just seems like it would be an insult for this thread to die on anyone. Like no one had anything good to say.
I have had some wonderful things said about me here (you are all doing an excellent job of keeping those rose colored glasses clean BTW

). And I really don't require anymore. I just can't deal with the idea of this thread ending on anyone.

Now if there is one word that should be used to describe
Cube Jockey it would be passion.
He is a passionate debater, thinker and champion of Progressive thinking. Yet he is a rare bird in the world of those so passionate about politics because he can still be reasonable when faced with a reasonable argument from the opposition. Also, he can be friendly with people with diametrically opposed political views. A Rare thing indeed.
I may disagree with
Cube Jockey more often then I agree with him but I enjoy his post and tend to look for them whenever I come online.
Loosing him would be a definite blow to AD.
Edited to add:
However, AD is certainly stronger then any one individual, even

It is the collective of interesting, generally reasonable people that make this the wonderful place it is. It would even survive the loss of me!
