The good
Rev is an active, committed participant here and truly lives up to the "independent" label. His opinions are difficult to predict, but always seem well-founded and articulately argued. While he often debates with passion, he is no ideologue - his ideas are often refreshing, his positions difficult to categorize. And he's kinda cute.

High praise, indeed, coming from
Amlord!
Amlord is... well...
Amlord.

He is one of the best spokespersons the Republican Party has here (and most other places as well). His posts are always intelligent, well-researched, and argued with clarity and, usually, without offense. As much as one may disagree with him (especially if that one is me), one cannot deny that he is motivated by what he feels is best for the country and its citizenry and that he is not merely parroting received opinions.

Only joking!
Rev Del Fugo doesnt seem to post particualrly frequently, but when he does its is usually a post that is thoughtful, brief and to the point. It is for this reason, he is useful on any internet forum, since long posts can be difficult to digest and make a debate spread out in too many directions.
I have deduced my brief analysis from his post history since I havent been here long, and I suggest the person who wants to write something about me ought to do the same

Given that you are fairly new and that I don't know you very well, there is something that struck me upon reading your first post. I really really like the fact that your avatar looks like Uncle Fester plotting his next explosion or devising his next ground breaking method of masochism

CP is a guy who takes a reasoned approach to most issues. He articulates them well and he is willing to hear the other side and debate issues civilly even if he might feel the otherside is a bit nuts.
On the rare occasion that reason is lost on an issue because of deep personal beliefs CP will even go as far as to point that out.
He has the ability to look at an issue and bring it to us, phrased as a question that forces you to look at the issue from another prospective.
And his Conservative / Libertarian prospective is always enlightening (though admittedly I frequently share it so maybe I am biased here).
Way to go CP and nice to see ya around again

I've had the pleasure of reading some informative and thoughtful posts by overlandsailor. His username conjures all sorts of imaginary places. It would be something to live in a world where ground transport was done by sail. Since I have libertarian leanings myself, we seem to overlap politically and perhaps philosophically. And as I'm relatively new here, I take comfort that there are folks presenting reasoned positions such as overlandsailor.

Logophage has one of the stranger names here, not really sure what it means or how to pronounce it, but he does make good posts. That, plus he's from California makes him in pretty good person in my book. I think people like him who do have a truly independant view tend to bring balance and rationality to this forum in a time of pretty high tension partisanship. Sometimes, he agrees with me and sometimes he's wrong.

But that's ok. He's most definitely a valuable contributor to this forum and that's a very good thing. Glad to have you here Logo, however you promounce it.

Well, since we're talkin about Californians, Aquilla is a well informed gentleman who is always ready to disseminate important information to his fellow Californians and make sure that they are as informed as he is (prop 57 if I remember right). Civil, but never soft, he represents the best (and the unspoken Reps) of Californians... and I'm glad he's on my side!

Sorry for jumping in again so soon, but I just can't pass this one up! (Watching Paladin Elspeth cringe in the background).

Were we to have a roast here on AD for Paladin, I would demand a place on the dias. She and I almost never agree on hardly anything and when we do, she sometimes waits until late at night via PM to let me know we do. She knows you see that I will then toss and turn all night long wondering what I said that was wrong.

She is an evil and viscious person. And, she also happens to be one of my very best friends here on America's Debate. A friendship that I truly treasure.
She and I don't agree on a lot of things, but I know her to be a person whose beliefs and passions stem from a deep-rooted and firm conviction of what is right and wrong. This is the sign of a strong moral character and that is something I truly admire in a person. While I may, and do frequently disagree with her stance on an issue, I never question her committment to her stance, nor her motivation for that stance.
I too have played AD&D games and I know what a Paladin character is supposed to be all about, what role they play in "life". They are good and decent people with a strong set of convictions and faith who seek to do what they think is the right thing to do. I can't think of a more appropriate role for Paladin Elspeth to play. She is that way in real life.

When I think of Aquilla I think of passion. Passionate opinions, passionate expressions of the same and total conviction to those beliefs.
I would have to say that I agree with Aquilla about 70% of the time. That might come as a surprise. It shouldn't. I try to only post in areas where I think I have something to add. When I agree with Aquilla I usually find he already has all the bases covered.
Aquilla is a wonderful example for many. A person willing to put in the time to research their posts, write them with concise flare and warm them a tad with the passion of a true believer.
We don't always agree, and on occasion our post can get a tad warm, but in the end I always respect his passion and his spirit.

There is Mark Messier whom falls into the Catagory "Sexiest Athlete"...Well he brought us the Cup
There is My Husband whom falls into the catagory ... Ummmm on second though, maybe I shouldn't go there....

Wow, this thread fell off the map. Sorry that Logophage, was left hanging as the last post I am QUITE sure it was not because no one had anything nice to say.
I for one, have not had much exposure to Logophage as yet. However, I have liked what I have seen. Logophage is an interesting character, a real moderate in that he seems to approach various issues from a "reasoned" prospective.
Moderation in political thought is very much under appreciated these days and it does not deserve to be. It is the people in the middle who are the real powers in this country. Being that we are generally divided down the middle between left and right politics it is the moderates who actually make things happen. The moderate vote on most issues is usually the deciding factor on the bills that pass or fail in our Republic.
Those moderates that approach political issues from a reasoned, common sense and most importantly PRACTICAL perspective are the real gems in our political world. I see Logophage as a member of that very important and exclusive club.
(Myself I am more of a Radical Moderate. My views tend to be one extreme side or the other depending on the issue)

Jul 6 2004, 01:32 AM
Aquilla, on the other hand, is no enigma. You always know where you stand with him and clearly know where he stands on every issue (usually a bit to the right of Atilla the Hun

). His posts are forthright, often painfully direct, and forcefully argued - a formidable adversary if you happen to be on the other side of an issue.
He's not all serious politics, though. Catch him in the Chat Room and he can be downright silly. That's right -
silly. It's refreshing to see both sides of him and makes the strength of some of his positions in the forums a bit easier to take.
CruisingRam
Jul 6 2004, 02:18 AM
I can always count on Wertz for some in depth information on an issue- he is by far the best researcher on the site IMO- and we agree on about 90% of the issues LOL
I like his "live and let live" philosophy that is so often part of the left of center libertarian types- makes them easy to live with LOL
Rancid Uncle
Jul 6 2004, 04:29 AM
CruisingRam is a smart, independent who has a very honest demeanor. You can tell he cares about the issues and has a genuine interest in uplifting people at heart. His posts make it obvious he has thought over the question and has an honest opinion that isn't influenced by today's partisan, personality politics. He brings a lot of what current politics is lacking, common sense.
overlandsailor
Jul 6 2004, 11:08 AM
Rancid Uncle brings to the table the wonderful perspective of youth, not yet beaten down by reality. He lists himself as a liberal, and though that is likely accurate from what I have seen his position on that magic political line is fluid depending on the issue. Classical Liberal might be a better description.
Rancid Uncle is not an all or nothing politico, he seems to look for the attainable middle ground on issues. This is an approach that would appear beyond his years (perhaps the effect of being around a bunch of stingy seniors

).
Rancid Uncle gives me hope for our future. That someone as young as he can find an interest in politics, develop his own positions, express them and most importantly look for the middle ground on issues (where what can realistically be accomplished can be found) gives me the feeling that the state of the next generation is far better then some would have us believe.

What I like even more is that when CJ and I agree, we approach the issues from slightly different angles resulting in a sort of one - two punch for the good guys
