Would parents (or would be parents) take a moment or two and complete the following three questions? Which answer or answers are most appropriate?

A teacher accuses your child of plagiarism; your child swears that he/she is innocent. Would you react by:

a. accusing the teacher of wrongdoing.
b. telling the teacher that the students' outlook on education is being wrongfully tainted.
c. reading the paper in question and contacting the teacher to discuss the situation.
d. other, please explain.

A teacher calls you because your child is disrupting the class. Would you react by:

a. accusing the teacher of singling out your child.
b. suggesting that the teacher make the class more engaging
c. disciplining your child
d. other, please explain.

A teacher sends out a progress report stating that your child is in jeopardy of failing. You disregard the letter and your child fails the class. Would you react by:

a. insisting that the teacher should have called you with the information
b. demanding that the teacher let the student make or redo work
c. holding your child responsible
d. other

Thank you!

I have no kids, so this is all speculation on my part.

1. C
2. D - I would contact the teacher to discuss the situation and also ask if I could sit in and observe the class for a few periods (and mostly just sit there with a stern face to remind my child I was going to watch them like a hawk)
3. Loaded question tongue.gif I'd like to think I would react to the initial letter. Let's pretend the letter gets lost in the mail - then my answer would most likely be C.

Did you want me to elaborate, er...speculate, any further?

1.C I would hope that the teacher contacted me before speaking to the child so I can adress my son/daughter.

2. B/C I would talk to my child and see why he/she is being that way. I would also like to see the classes get more engaging.

3. D I would hope that I would never disregard a letter from my child's school. And if I did actually do it I would only blame myself.

Thank you for your response.

Could I ask you elaborate?

If you spoke with your child about misbehaving and he/she said that the class was boring, would you address this issue with the teacher?
