Why do we think Bush is so great? We need to. If Bush isn't doing a great job with the war on terror we are in trouble. We are scared that if we have doubts about his agenda we won't win the war on terrorism. We are all are scared that if we don't defend our faith in Bush we are going to lose our security. Having an idiot at the helm of our country during a crisis is very frightening so we just pretend he is a great leader and change the channel because The Osbornes is on.

When Bush was first elected, I could take him or leave him, so I do not fall into this general category of Bush-hailers. Proven through numerous polls conducted since Sept. 11, Bush's actions concerning the War on Terrorism have pleased Democrats and Republicans alike. Most Democrats find it unthinkable to even consider what Gore would be doing in this position, and I can't say I blame them.
What is the alternative here? To give bin Laden a smack on the wrist? To give Saddam a light spanking? We must take definitive action to keep not just our country safe, but the several nations around the world that are also threatened by illogical and unjust rulers such as Hussein. Therefore, Bush is doing exactly what he should be. He is proving himself to be a very pragmatic President. The people support him not because they've nothing better to do, but because they approve. Period.

I voted for Bush and I openly support him, but, what does he owe the American public in terms of proof that Saddam has WMD?

That depends on whether or not he is requesting our sons and daughters to die in a war. I think when the time comes for war there had better be a good reason with proof to back it up. I thought we learned this lesson from Viet Nam.

Edited to add I'm not against ANY war ever...I'm just against sensless or needless wars. sleep.gif

I agree with most of his decsions but that isn't the point. Great leaders don't always give the people what they want. Great leaders make us face up to the tough decsions. I real leader would say don't use lots of oil. A great leader might be a little more agressive in fighting the unjust evil Arab governments.

I've been a vocal critic of GWB since the beginning. The guy is making a lot of major mistakes internationally, IMO, and it is only due to Powell and other strong staff members that the US has not started WWIII.

Bush is a stubborn leader, not a great one. He gets an idea into that little head of his and takes it past any notion of being wrong. His lack of reflection and self-doubt is dangerous. I am so happy that our form of government does not allow him to press the nuke button on a whim or from a temper tantrum.

Each day that this man has the power of warmaking causes me concern that he will do something really stupid, and the rest of us will pay for it. I believe Gore would not have made any of the mistakes GWB has made. Gore had the international experience of a veep. GWB, all he had was the soverign state of Texas and its liberal exercise of capital punishment. Tick me off, you die. Oh yeah, and compassion. Yes siree bob!

Now he wants his administration to speak with one voice. Might I suggest GWB shut up and let someone with a few marbles left do the talking? At least he has noticed that the US economy is in bad shape. It only took him two years. Over the next two years, the US voting public will see just how ineffective and dangerous this man is, IMO. Another one-term Bush.

A great leader would have responded appropriately to 9/11 and paid attention to the economic conditions, and promoted an international criminal court, and won the hearts and minds of the world peoples, and created a safer planet for everyone. A great leader would have promoted the notion of using the UN as a political source of power and agreement shared among nations.

A very poor leader just stomps around and demands this and that because he is powerful.

BTW, 9/11 did not scare me. When my time is up, it is up. That's all there is to it. I've got a much greater chance of being snuffed by some moron on the highways than I do of going out from some terrorist attack.

I did feel real bad for a while though. Normal mourning. But just because you feel real bad does not mean you should run around trying to start a world war.

George W. Bush will be remembered as a footnote in history. A REAL leader would have stepped up and challenged the god damn "Congressional Black Caucus" on their hypocrisy regarding the Trent Lott affair. Instead, the Republicans and Dubya just threw their Senate Majority Leader to the wolves in cowardice. Mediocrity - that is what defines our so called "leaders" these days.

I don't know which scares me more: people who love Bush, or people who hate him because he is not insane enough.

This is my new thought "WWGD'

What Would Gore Do? Do you really think that gore would of been able to kill Usama? excl.gif

Gore is no longer an issue. And Osama is almost forgotten. No one is looking for him here in the U.S. we have decided to crucify Saddam for Osama's crimes. Ask the 9/11 families if you don't believe me. rolleyes.gif

You hit it right on the head.

I don't agree with everything the President does. I don't think he's a "leader".

But war-time presidents are popular presidents, so we trust him.

Really, have any presidents had their intentions focused on hurting the American people?

But war-time presidents are popular presidents, so we trust him.

So, any president that wants to be popular just has to start a war so we are forced to trust him? I think this may be the Bush mindset and many people are falling for it.

We were not attacked by Iraq. We were attacked by Al Quaeda and we all stood behind Bush when he went after them in Afgahnistan. That doesn't mean we should automatically think it's ok if he starts a completely seperate war. And he isn't done with Afgahnistan either. Yesterday I noticed news reports stating that new Al Quaeda recruits are flowing into Afgahnistan. I also noticed that the situation for women is going back to what it was before we rid them of the Taliban. This only confirms we have not finished the job we started there.
