These conversations always end up with people hustling labels - capitalism, socialism, communism, libertarianism, anarchism, etc. Someday we ought to decide just what these labels mean.
For instance the US is supposed to be capitalist and Norway socialist. What does that really mean in terms of how each respective country is run? Our ISMS seem to be badly undefined or at least underdefined.

There is nothing morally wrong with socialism. However far left ideologies do not respect the right to private property in a way that is consistent with our heritage.
There are no pure economies left out there. All Marxist or Socialist countries use elements of capitalism and all capitalist countries use elements of capitalism.
We tend to equate socialism with capital C communism. This is revolutionary Marxism that led to the establishment of the two single most murderous governments in human history, that of Mao Zedong and Joseph Stalin.
