The AP drives me crazy.

Their articles are constantly riddled with poor spelling, horrendous grammar, and nonsensical sentences.

A news organization as large as them should surely be able to proofread every single article.

Yet we are still fed such masterfully written sentences as the following:

QUOTE
Attempts to reach officials from the buying the fast food chain were unsuccessful early Friday.

I'm going to post any AP errors I find here in this thread. Feel free to do the same...

You are right that the AP should strive for the highest standards in writing quality, however, I think you should cut them a little slack.

AP reporters collectively write thousands of articles a day, many of which are often composed within minutes of the event's occurence. The copy editors at the bureaus are top-notch grammarians, but they're also human and they've also been reading articles all day. This is not mentioning the fact that they are pressed for horrendous deadlines, some of which may be a matter of minutes within receipt of an article.

But do continue to post errors that you do find.
