As you may have caught in the news, Ronald Reagan passed away last week. Naturally, this has brought up strong emotions from those who remember him (and his political career) fondly, and not so fondly. While people on both sides of the fence would present their understanding of events as indisputable truth, there IS room for debate on his goals, deeds, successes and failures.

What there is not room for, at least on these forums, is name calling, rude behaviour, and the sort of partisan bickering which is always a possibility when debating a controversial figure. This is not a place for casual discussion of Ronald Reagan either. You will note that this thread is in the HISTORY DEBATE forum. Please try to respect the rules and each other, and try to stay on topic.

Was Reagan's domestic policy a success? Did he take an active role in shaping American domestic policy?

Was his foreign policy a success? Was he a key figure in the collapse of the Soviet Union? What impact did he have in other sectors?

Did Reagan's economic policy leave America in better or worse shape? Was he responsible for proceeding booms and busts in the economy?

Too broad. We can debate anything Reagan, just make it specific.
