While books critical of the Bush administration are nothing new, generally the authors of these books leave no doubt as to their political leanings (Al Franken, Michael Moore, David Brock, for example). There seems to be a budding trend of conservatives writing scathing books about the Bush presidency. For instance:
Worst than Watergate – John Dean
The Politics of Truth – Joseph Wilson
Against All Enemies – Richard Clarke
And now, <gasp> Pat Buchanan, that über-conservative, is writing a Bush-bashing book! Who’s next – Ann Coulter?
QUOTE
The Thomas Dunne imprint of St. Martin's Press has agreed to pay around $500,000 to Pat Buchanan for an anti-Dubya book to be called "Where the Right Went Wrong."
The proto-conservative will blast the Bush Administration for behaviors both domestic and foreign. He is particularly scornful of the U.S. foreign policy that has "ignited a war of civilizations" with the Islamic world.
NY PostSome questions to debate-feel free to add your own:
Will more disillusioned conservatives write tell-alls?
Will it have an effect on conservatives “sitting on the fence”?
Will enough moderate conservatives feel alienated enough by the Bush administration to swing the vote and defeat Bush in 2004?
