Just to throw in my two cents... every US dollar spent in Canada gets about $1.38 Canadian... Toronto would be cheap, and it would be like any U.S. city on clean.

Wow...so many great choices....Tijuana, the happiest place on earth, not just for the drinkin', but I'm fond of the food that can be found the the better parts of Baja California......Vegas, because whatever goes on there, stays there (that's what I've heard, anyways)....Amsterdam, wow, is there anything you can't do there...
Anyways, I picked MOA...simply because I'd be more likely to attend...

Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it - new york, new york
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it - new york, new york
I wanna wake up in a city, that doesnít sleep
And find I'm king of the hill - top of the heap
These little town blues, are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it - in old new york
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
Itís up to you - new york, new york
New york, new york
I want to wake up in a city, that never sleeps
And find I'm a number one, top of the list, king of the hill
A number one
These little town blues, are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it - in old new york
And if I can make it there, I'm gonna make it anywhere
It up to you - new york new york
New york

Ok, I gotta mention the irony of Toronto getting the most votes for a convention about AD

Vegas is awesome. I was there in April and had a blast.

I voted for
Mt. Rushmore because it seems the most apropos
for a Political gathering (4 presidents' faces

would
help with the ambiance).
However, I would be very happy with
Vegas or
Toronto...

I voted "Amsterdam"- the irony of holding an "Americas debate" in a European country makes me very happy indeed- and with the number of professed herb lovers here, and artistic/art museum types- everyones needs will be met- with legal pot and the wealth of wonderful art in Amersterdam
Though I was a little hurt that no one suggested Anchorage Alaska- possibly one of the best and most exciting tourist destination in America- and one of the few places now giving Vegas and Hawaii a run for it's convention dollars- with us basically having conventions daily up here now LOL

Hypothetically? Wherever it would facilitate the largest number of A.D. members to be able to attend.

Denver cuz I could actually make it. Every convention seems to end up in Vegas, but aren't the flights cheap?
I'd love to play a coffee house in Amsterdam -- for the ambience of course.
Never been to Toronto but would like to visit.
Nor New York but would like to visit.
Or any of the other places save near the Mall of America (didn't exist back then) and somewhere Nebraska.
What if people in AD did local meet-ups and invited folks along? What if AD did a Webcast? When is AD's anniversary?

You "Nowhereville, Nebraska" proponents have quite the sense of humor. Here's a site in case you are truly serious about such an idea. I would just roll over and die laughing if you actually passed this off, though I'm not sure if I want you all here!
Visit Nebraska webpageWe do have....
*the Pioneer Archway(Go see "About Schmidt" if you want to see it)
*Willa Cather museum
*Mari Sandoz ranch and museum
*John Brown's cave in Nebraska City( A cool place to see where a guy who killed slave owners lived

)

Where or what is the "Mall of America"?
Actually though I voted for Vegas, and NYC would be my second choice on this list (looking for an excuse to go back to both!) I think Amsterdam or somewhere else in Europe would be better...
Maybe Paris?
To be serious for a moment - if this ever were to become a reality, say, next summer, I'd certainly consider coming over to the USA and making it part of my summer holiday.

Julian, The Mall of America is Minnesota's latest claim to fame, besides the Mao Clinic in Rochester and the world's largest fake floating loon in Virginia. I'm sure you've heard of the loon.
What can you say about The Mall of America? It's big. It's all over the place. It's got indoor everything, including an amusement park. It's our greatest shrine to consumerism, materialism, chain store capitalism, and just straight out bad taste.
Did I mention it is big? Biggest shopping mall in the world, by goshy!
Also, MN is my home state. Spent over half my life there, 29 years (counting womb time). When all you've really got to brag about is a baseball team that accidentally won a world series and a football team that won, um, nothing so far, yah gotta do something drastic to raise the populace's spirits, especially in the dead of winter.
Thus The Mall of America! By gosh, now that's something pretty darn special, hey?
Never been there, but have visited the Mao Clinic. And of course the loon.

Of course I picked Amsterdam. Have been to most of the other places.
Worked in the MOA while attending the U. A capitalistic Mega Store. Bring the kids to Camp Snoopy, and we can meet in Hooters or the Great American Sports Bar. ($1.25 pool games and $4 beers

)
Tiajuana........I am not welcome back.
St. Louis or K.C. Not in the summer time. Family is from MO, and my favorite uncle is VP of Sales for the Rams, but I like to feel comfortable, and the midwest in the summer time is FAR from that. Great people though OLS!!!!
NYC.........wrong side of the Mississippi for me.
Why not some Pacific NW choices? It would be cool for everyone on the "Right" side of the map to take the Oregon Trail to the convention. Just a thought.

I voted Toronto, cuz I've never been to Canada and would love to go. As for a central place for all AD'rs, that'd be tough, since we have posters in Scotland, the UK and Denmark (that I remember off the top of my head). I guess that would be somewhere out in the Atlantic Ocean...there aren't even any islands that would be good midway points! Does Greenland count?
Nebraska29, isn't the geographic center of the US in Nebraska? Or is it Kansas?

How about Portland Oregon eh? Its beautiful up here and political gathering friendly

I think the most obvious place is Denver, CO.
But I guess Id settle for Las Vegas, which I think might be my favorite place in the USA (though I havent visited NYC) and I bet we could get a good deal if there were enough of us going. Thats what great about Vegas. And the guys passing out porn on the streets...

I say denver, but only because I'm stuck in colorado. I would have to get permission to leave the state being on probation.

I voted Vegas because out of all the cities it is probably the easiest and cheapest to get to. No matter where you are in the country there is probably a cheap (and likely direct) flight to Vegas.
Now never having been to Vegas personally, I don't know what there is to do besides gambling, but logistically it seems like it would be easiest.
