I figured I would stick this in casual conversation because there really isn't much to debate here I suppose. There was an interesting little snippet in the Us News & World Report Site today:

QUOTE
The team looking for a Texas site to put President Bush 's library and museum seem to have trimmed the list to Dallas and Waco. Insiders say Dallas gets top billing because first lady Laura Bush went to the city's Southern Methodist University, but others like Waco because it's close to Bush's Crawford ranch.

Is it normal for a sitting president in his first term to start looking for a presidential library location if he expects a second term? I'm asking because I really don't know. In the words of David Letterman - Is this something?

Also, any thoughts about the choices of location?

As any President nears the possible end of his tenure, it makes sense to have an idea where to ship the personal records from that tenure. There's no "something" here. It's just prudent contingency planning.

As for location: I like the irony of having it in "Wacko", but somewhere outside of Dallas might be better for improving traffic. Really, though, he ought to put it in Austin.

Please pick Whacko....please please please.

What could they possibly put in a George W Bush library...the complete collection of "Golden Books"?!?!

And I'm with AndyMosity on the location: it couldn't be more perfect!

I'm pretty sure I remember Clinton looking at spots in his first term, I could be wrong though. I do remember him stealing furniture and other stuff from the whitehouse for his library once he did leave though. mrsparkle.gif

Even in Casual Conversation, you can't get away with repeating lies, gibu. What you "remember" is a series of slanders spread by members of the incoming Bush administration (and repeated by the "liberal media") in an early effort to "change the tone" of national politics - for the worse. Here is a link to twenty-seven items debunking this lie - there are even a couple of apologies (from the media, of course, not the Bush administration staffers who started the lie).

I haven't been to Texas in circa fifty years, so I won't pretend to know a good location for the George W. Bush Presidential Library. If we limit it however, to what he is known to have read during his presidency, The Pet Goat, should probably be left in the elementary school in Florida. If the President wants to know how the story ends, he can go back and visit the school again.

The Dick Chaney Vice Presidential Library should also be considered at this time. It would be a good place to store all of the aforementioned classified documents from this Presidency, as the only appropriate site would be an undisclosed location.

Of course it wont be holding his Texas governor records cause those are at his dad's library illegally. unsure.gif
