I found out about this in today's newspaper.. Anyways, here's a link to his blog site: http://www.livejournal.com/users/jiveturky/185733.html

Pretty much, Ian Long, from York, PA (actually not too far from me) claims that after having unfurled several anti-Bush banners, he received 'the finger' from GWB who was at the time riding past in his bus. (Go look at his point of view... it's not an option to do otherwise before posting. laugh.gif)

- How is it that he comes to post this with no credible proof and can still receive such support?
- What, in your eyes, are the chances that this is 100% true?

Note: I am aware this news-topic is a week or more old, and am sorry as well if there was previously something posted concerning this, for I did not see anything.

Do I believe that Bush actually flipped this guy the bird? Eh, it would have been more believable if the vulgar administration official was Dick laugh.gif. Based on this guy's word and a picture of the front of Dubya's campaign bus, I really don't see a lot of credibility here. Do I believe that Bush is uncouth enough to flip off a couple of protesters? Wouldn't doubt it for a second. I'm surprised that these guys got close enough to the Dubyamobile to launch a protest without getting arrested; usually only supporters can get close. Sounds like the Abu-Ghraib boys did catch a bit of trouble. Oh well, the story serves as a humorous little anecdote even if it is false.

People believe a lot of things without any conclusive evidence: why wouldn't they believe this? Isn't that the joy of blogging?

What, in your eyes, are the chances that this is 100% true?

Like I said before, it's not a lot to go on. We buy things from "anonymous sources" within the White House, so I guess we're willing to believe this one wink.gif. I personally don't buy it; there just isn't enough there.

I know these people vaguely from LiveJournal and remember reading their accounts when they first posted them (separately) - uh, that would be jiveturky and jazzkat (the latter's account can be found here). I've followed their journals for a few months and have not come across anything suspect in the past. I have no reason to doubt their story - and certainly no reason to doubt that President Bush would've flipped off a couple of protestors. It's not, to my mind at least, a major story, though. Business as usual in this White House.

Yeahsureright, and John Kerry mooned me on his way to a Hollywood fundraiser - it wasn't a pretty sight. rolleyes.gif And let's see, because I have now posted that on the Internet, it must be true. whistling.gif

Same reason that some people, including even some here "worship" Michael Moore's ::cough:: documentary and apparently view it as the greatest film since "Gone with the Wind". I think David Hannum had an explanation for it..... look it up Jeopardy players. cool.gif

You want odds on odds? I"d say this was highly unlikely.

However since we are on the subject of weird stories in the strange world of politics and the sometimes bizzare creatures that inhabit it, the potential first lady today told a newspaper reporter from Pittsburgh to "Shove it". While I hate to raise the level of credibility of this thread thus far, I must include a link to WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh which, unfortunately for Ms Heinz Kerry happened to catch the exchange on video. tongue.gif Kind of a fun piece actually, great way to start off the DNC's big week. thumbsup.gif

If Bush did flip the bird, what difference does it make? I could imagine seeing him doing it in a heartbeat, but I can also envision Kerry doing it about that fast, too.

Yes, the decorum is way off in this election. But it will do us little good to deny the politicians their humanity; it's going to slip out at the most inconvenient times.

Aside from Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, can any of us imagine any President in recent memory who was somehow unwilling or incapable of expressing his displeasure with a gesture that is so clearly understood in the 48 contiguous United States, plus Alaska and Hawaii?

Whether it is real or bogus, it's a non-issue.

After Cheneys expression in the Senate, people are willing to believe this. If only rumor with no fact base, then folks are getting a thrill out of envisioning the Presidential Bird.

I don't believe it's true. I have no reason to believe it to be truth, and truth be told, it doesn't matter in my eyes. My intention is to flip a symbolic bird to this administration come November. Whatever President Bush does with his birds means nothing to me.

The heat of anger is gone. Coldness remains.

I doubt this is true. There is no way it can be. I can't see Bush flipping the bird to someone...at least not during an election year.

And looking at the picture, how can you tell Bush is giving the finger? I htink there is a lack of proof here
