Many people like to have government programs to take care of retirement, health care, accidents, and such. These are all things that are part of life but we have government programs which everyone has to belong to as we have decided that people can not take care of themselves so we will have government do it.
Many people like to decide things for themselves and do it on their own.
Does it have to be all one way or the other ? I think not. Why not have a nation wide test which determines if you have the life skills to be exempt from these programs if you so choose ? Those who pass have provern they have the capabilities to run their own life. They also accept the responsibility to handle emergencys without government intervention and they would not be eligible for any of these programs.
The Unitied States is the place in the world which holds civil rights and liberty in high esteem. This would be a good policy to support these ideals.
This is just the concept, the details would be extremely important (what is the test, which programs, etc. ). What do you think of the concept ?
