Did you know that almost EVERY Senator and President and Congressmen in the past 20 years are millionaires? They are. Rest asured, they take advantages of their wealth and loopholes to pay a lower % on taxes. Donations to foreign countries will allow them to chip a certain percent off their taxes. So if they give a $100,000 donation to India, they can save possibly $700,000 - $2,000,000!

This way, they spend a fraction of a percent of their income to gain fame for their so called generosity. In fact, their aren't generous, they're saving large amounts of money and are getting fame doing so!

This isn't right, but those loopholes are never going to disappear. Why? Because the only way to get rid of them is to get the majority of rich Senators and Representatives to pass it. Then, they have to get the wealthy President to sign the bill to a law. These people, in the majority, use the very loopholes you want to get rid of, Republican and Democrat alike. For years past and to come, this will happen. There is almost no chance of getting rid of these loopholes.

Documentation, please.

If what you say is true, they would still be paying more taxes than your average Joe Schmoe although not as much as they could be paying.

If what you say is true, I can' t say I blame them. People seem to be penalized for being successful, especially your middleclass.

I can honestly say that if there were some way that I could lower the percentage we pay in, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. Why not? My family earned that money and it is ours.

Lastly loopholes are just that, loopholes. Meaning it isn't against the law or technically dodging anything. Bravo for them!

Edited to add: Also, sounds like an incentive to donate... all the better to whom those donations benefit. Doesn't sound all bad.

I agree with Mad Max concerning loopholes. If they exist, use them. Why not? I just wish I could discover some to use.

The tax code is way too complicated and ultimately unfair. I wish we could do a complete overhaul of all our taxing methods and have a tax system which is simpler and consistent. Taxes are a politician's delight. They are constantly tweaked, loop-holed, praised and criticized as politicians play to their respective supporters. A stable tax code would condusive to a better business climate. A simple tax code will reduce the large expense of complying with the tax codes.

Legal is not the same as ethical. My standards of behavior are not dependent on what the rules are. The use of rationale such as "It is legal so it is OK" is good to keep you out of jail but does not provide any support of a position what-so-ever. I do not support legislators who provide legal means to an advantage over others.

Would I use a loop-hole to reduce my taxes if I had one ? Yes. Taxes are too high. Would I vote to end all loop holes ? Yes. They are part of an unfair tax system.

I would use loopholes too, but to save the most, you'd have to be rich...donations really help for loopholes.

Voting to end them wont help;

You could save sum money if you own a house, but you pay more taxes if you own a lot of property...sad.gif

I'm not a republican, I'm a free thinking individual who happens to value the earnings of my family. Political parties disgust me. Sheep. Bahhhh baaahhhh baaahhh!
