Halloween is a delicious and eerie celebration. And the fact that the festivities are held at night when kids aren't usually allowed to be out makes it that much better.
I love becoming somebody else, somebody exciting, mysterious, scary.
Gross Halloween costumes and overly-bloody Halloween scenes aren't my cup of tea. I do eerie well, though. Just something to give you a bit of a thrill, not render you incontinent. I spent too many years as a nurse trying to heal gross injuries and wiping incontinent butts to appreciate that as(s)pect (pardon the pun).
COSTUME: What are you going to wear? What are the kids going to be?I will either be a pirate, a gypsy, or a witch. I have a bodice purchased from the Michigan Renaissance festival that I can either pair with my black witch's dress, or wear an old-fashioned Renaissance festival, natural linen-colored blouse under it and a long plaid skirt. I have gypsy jewelry (coins) to accessorize.
Curmudgeon has been a terrorist, a pirate, a satyr, the Big Bad Wolf in grannie's nightie, and a Viking. I don't know what he's going to wear this year. He's as much fun for me to dress as our daughter is. We all dig Halloween. He'll be going out with her this year, and I'll be handing out candy. We take turns.
Shego, our nearly 11-year-old daughter, will be dressed as a pirate. The Pirates of the Caribbean inspired her, and pirates are
hot this year.
HAUNTED HOUSE: What was the scariest Haunted House?I attended a pretty scary one in Greenville, South Carolina a long time ago. Too much grossness, not enough eerieness. I like the eerieness that Tim Burton's films typify.
CANDY: What is your favorite candy at Halloween.Chunky bars (don't get those on Halloween, unfortunately

), Mars Bars (hard to find nowadays), Milky Way, those little Hershey bars (especially the dark chocolate), Nestle's Crunch, Jolly Rancher grape hard candy, Mounds/Almond Joy--definitely chocolate.
