My opinion?

You should use spell check.

I have some problems with this, but if - and only if - there is probably cause, yeah, okay.
Limpubus
I do have some issues with this as well (invasion of privacy etc.) But since people whom drive while drunk cause a lot of accidentsI can't be opposed to it.
Gray Seal
I believe there is a need.
MadMax
I'll have to agree there is a need for it (spell check as well as breathalizers).

The person you don't test could be the one that kills the family of four down the road.

The person you don't test could be the one that runs YOUR family down.

I know you don't have children, jubes, but I surely don't want MY child/ren at the hands of a drunk driver because you can't test the losers anymore.

Actually, MadMax, the spelling is breathalyzer - it's a brand name, I believe (Kisov?). I looked it up to make sure it was spelled correctly in the topic. If juber3 can't or won't use the spellcheck in his thread, it's his prerogative, but I fix spellings in titles (in case anyone was wondering about that).

It is my understanding that breathalyzer tests are optional (at least in the states in which I have lived). Once can choose to be arrested instead and not surrender possible evidence that could be used against them. I have no problem if the tests exist, but they must stay optional, never mandatory.
Kisov
Well, the test that I run on the drunks that are brought in for DUI, Child Abuse, etc is called an Intoxilyzer. The arrestee breathes into a tube and the breath sample is tested and then a sample of his/her breath is saved in a Silica Gel Tube that is then sealed and booked into evidence, that way (if the arrestee decides to contest the results) he/she can call one of many labs that double check breath test results and they can check out the Silica Gel Tube for retesting. It is a much more controlled and accurate way of testing than the portable Breathalyzers that are not certified by the Dept. of Health once a year for accuracy.

I don't feel any problem with the use of Intoxilyzers of portable Breathalyzers, only people who are breaking the law and driving drunk causing a risk to the innocents around them should be concerned about any "invasion of privacy" that may be incurred from a traffic stop.

Sure why not? It's a lot more sanitary than having the cop smell the drivers breath smile.gif
