In every presidential election since 1936, the Redskins' last home game has accurately predicted the winner. If they win, the incumbent president's party wins. If they lose, the challenger wins.

Hey the RedSox won after almost a century of being Losers! (LOSERS LOSERS LOSERS whistling.gif )

Shows that anything CAN happen.

So in the spirit of Halloween wackiness and pre election jitters

Do you beleive in Redskins predicition streak?

and if Kerry wins should he publicly thank the Packers who play in Lambergh, uhm LAmbooie, or wazzit Lambode Feild

Haha! I was just about to share this little statistic with everyone, but you beat me to the punch Christopher mrsparkle.gif

I personally don't believe in fate, or curses or anything like that, but you have to admit that statistic is pretty interesting smile.gif I guess we'll find out Tuesday whistling.gif

I understand the sports minded people that think this is relevent but and to answer your question, I do NOT believe in this nonsense.

Futhermore, and to answer your other question, Kerry should thank the American people not some silly football team for winning a game. To do so only underscores the importance of the voters.

This is much ado about nothing and frankly embarrassing as the entire world looks on to a very important election to see Americans hinting at the idea that a Football game will help us determine our next President.

Do I believe in it?? Absolutely not... Do I hope it is real??? Oh hell YEAH. I rarely root against the Redskins home team and all, but you better believe I was happy to see them lose that game.

However for those who didn't watch it there was a play late in the fourth quarter where Washington scored a touch down that would have given them the lead, but it was called back by the Referee. After looking at the call on replay it looked to me to be a very bad call. A couple of plays later Green Bay intercepted. This game could be a Washington win if it wasn't for a bad call.

Could this be an indication that we are headed to the Supreme Court? However, I doubt that the Supreme Court will make a bad call in favor for Democrats

Ooops..I apologize guys. I just realized that I was not on a politics board. I should not have come on so strong on this board.

See, I clicked the link from the main page and didn't realize which board I was on.

Carry on and please accept my apologies.

I think the final score in the big game will be Texas/Washington 286 Massachusetts 252

Good thing the Skins lost because my absentee ballot got botched so I wont be able to vote (which is a kick in the butt seeing as how it would've been my first time). So this makes me feel better (even if it is superstition).

Yay Favre!

I'm not a terribly suspicious person, but somewhere, in the deepest, darkest realms of my lizard brain, there was a little voice going "Pleasepleaseplease let the Packers win". Yesterday I teased my (Republican) mom and told her she didn't need to go to the polls; it's a done deal, Kerry's gonna win. laugh.gif

But, still, 18 and 0 and 68 years is a pretty darned impressive prediction record no matter what you believe. I wonder what the odds on that are? online2long.gif

I think Kerry needs to learn to pronounce "Lambeau", and it would be a cool thing for him to give a nod to the Pack.

And a last note - is Brett Favre a stud or what? 190 straight games...playing despite drug addiction, multiple concussions, broken bones, the emotional strain of family members' deaths, and now his wife's cancer...jeez, poor Brett can't catch a break.

This seems to be a time for all good streaks to end....matter of fact, this especially applies right now to anyone from Massachusetts (Sox, Pats).

Well, it seems he certainly won't be publicly thanking Schilling, at least. w00t.gif

I believe the referees for the game were Democrats.

If I remember correctly a touchdown by the Washington Redskins at 2:38 to go in the game was called back because of a penalty against Washington.

Hoorah for the Refs.

Non-relationships like sports wins indicating something in politics are silly. Still, think about how many non-relationships are used in politics all the time.

When journalists bring up these things, I think they are laughing at us.

So no, I don't put any meaning into sports as related to politics. But I can see a direct relationship on this one:

When the Vikings win a Superbowl, hell shall freeze over.

That one I believe with all my heart (Minnesota native). Have mercy!

Should Kerry thank the Packers publicly? Why not the full eclipse of the moon that happened last week? As non-relationships go, it has been a human tradition to credit or lay blame on celestial events.

So I'll go with thanking the earth's shadow rather than a football team. It just seems grander and more traditional.
