So since the election will be over in a matter of a days at this point I will have lots of free time to spend on the boards biggrin.gif . Sorry to those I've missed lately. I thought some small talk might get me back into the swing of things.

So the question is...What art work do you have in your house?

I have several Dali paintings including but not limited to... Soft Construction, The Discover of America, Flight of a Bee, etc...

As well as a few American Flags topped off by several pictures of Ronald Reagan and Captain Kirk.

One can put no price on fine art laugh.gif .

Tell us who you are...

Edited to add, I am most curious to hear from Wertz (as usual) and Mike and Jaime.

Hey there, Mr. Locke!

I have a couple of prints by Russell Richards, a good buddy of mine from high school.

We have many of my wife's pastels up, tons of masks - African and Asian, mostly

A lot of Native American art, including some real Hopi Kachinas, some Navajo art, and some Makah art - including a totem pole a grateful patient carved for my wife.

We have several Indian batiks, many Buddhas, including a three-foot wooden Buddha from India (no, not the fat guy, the Buddha!).

We have a number of large fabric paintings done by women in Zimbabwe. They are originals, and very nice.

Our walls are pretty much covered. cool.gif

I wish I had a picture of Ronald Reagan and captain Kirk! Is Kirk in uniform? Are they shaking hands? Kissing (you know how those Hollywood types are)?

Hey, I'm just messin with ya John!

***NOTE: FOR HOMELAND SECURITY AGENTS:

We have a twelve foot statue of the Beloved Leader which we pray before each day, light incense at, kiss the feet of, and shower with rose petals before bed each night. He keeps us safe. From the terrorists. smile.gif

Well, not being one of the chosen...but....

I collect small bits of native art, usually signed pieces, a drum from Ghana, a basket from an alaskan basket weaver, a pastel (Lone Wolf) from the woman who designed the current AK license plate, a wooden bowl from New Mexico inlaid with torquiose, a pipe from a well known pipe maker and friend in Taos Pueblo, a blanket from Lesotho South Africa, a mermaid from Indonesia. I also wear a silver necklace from a Navaho artist and a ring made by witch and given to me in Mexico, everyday.

Im very fond of artwork, sculpture and special pieces of jewelry, I used to collect but much of it has been lost over the years.

My roomate loves wildlife pieces and we have in the home a few Bev Doolittle
(she does the fun ones with all kinds of hidden animals in them) and Annette Hartzell, polar bears and orcas, besides the odd Ak native pieces he collects and some things he makes himself in the Pacific Northwest native style of animals.

I have been collecting H.R. Giger prints since I was a kid (if you did not know by my Avatar). I have a couple Landscapes and Spells. No I am really not into his aliens, and I have yet to collect his jewelry or sculptures. My favorite collected piece is "The Way of the Magician." I love Giger's attention to detail, his odd metallic color, and his use of the human body. My mother deems it pornography and scary, and tries not to look. To each his own art.

My wife collects Mary. We have tones of pictures of the Virgin Mary all over our house, in every room. Every room also includes a cross or two or so that we buy each time we are in Mexico.

I like H.R. Giger's work as well, particularly the alien, demonic stuff. For me, the darker, the better. However, I don't have any of his art hanging. This is mostly because my wife is an artist; we have friends who are artists; and thus we have a surfeit of art on our walls and sculptures "taking up space" wink.gif. If anyone is interested, she has a fine art web site. Also, I would direct you to DreamPipEr's photographs. Really fine work in my opinion.

We are lucky to have an original painting by N. Bogomolov - my wife met him during her last visit to St. Petersburg, Russia. He is a wonderful artist with a keen eye for urban landscape. You can see another one of his paintings here.
In addition I have a few paintings and sketches of other Russian artists... and one wall of our house is dedicated to photographic endeavours of your humble correspondent blush.gif ... just pictures I made here and there, some of them just look good on the wall.

The same goes for me, my wife is a professional photographer and we have many friends who are artists and photographers so our walls are fairly filled up as well. I'm in the process of launching a new site for her, but in the meantime you can check out her work here (domain will forward to new site when available) for now. This is just a miscellaneous collection of work and most of her newest stuff isn't up yet, but her photoblog stays pretty up to date with new work if you are interested. Oh and the first link works best in IE, the second is completely standards compliant.

Mary and Giger... what an interesting mix.

I mostly have my own "art" framed..it is photos I have taken. Also my children have created an entire gallery worth of art and I display it very proudly smile.gif

I also like the art nouveau era..and have a Mucha in my bedroom.
Quite fond of the advertising art from that time period actually...and have a few prints from what I believe is the oldest Vegetarian restaurant in all of Europe in my kitchen.
Also like W.W. Denslow's art and have a few hung up.

Got a few wine festival images...and I have a few Swiss circus ads too..as the circus in Switzerland is an art form. I collected a poster from each one we went to.

I like the folk art thing too and I have a few painted of my motherland. I also have a few of the Appenzeller region in CH.
Also adore and collect Ivan Bilibin.

I have a love for Japanese art...my mum was raised in Japan..and so I grew up in a home adorned with Japanese art, furniture and all sorts of eating utensils. Love all the cups, bowls, plates etc. and I display those too.

Also my nan sends me pressed flowers from her garden and I have all of those framed too.

The rest of my "art" is out back..I have a sunken garden .and it was a complete pit when we bought the home..looked like somewhere to keep the swine and so I am really proud of the transformation ..not to mention it is still all in full bloom flowers.gif
