cogito ergo sum
It looks to me as if we are shaping up to see a fight for the GOP nomination between Rudy Guliani and John McCain for 2008.

I thought McCain was too socially liberal compared to Bush so I could not support McCain. He also seems too much like a media gadfly making waves on issues of little importance (like the drugs in baseball right now) just so he can stay on TV as much a possible. I really don't like him much.

However, if it comes down between him and Guliani, I would HAVE to pick McCain! If I don't like McCain's liberalness on social issues, Guliani makes McCain look like a hard liner!

I'd guess, to keep power and the great middle of the road voters in the GOP column we will see a moderate put up by the national Party because the GOP does not have a large enough majority of voters that are very conservative.

Anyway, I think BOTH of the above can beat Hillary Clinton!

So here are the questions for debate:

Does the GOP have to stay in the center with their presidential candidates to keep their evolving majority viable at this time? And, if they do, won’t that sort of make the lie to their conservative principles which will eventually cause a revolt in their Party with the long time conservative voters?
