Apparently, Dubya, et al., paid columnist Armstrong Williams to push the "No Child Left Behind" agenda. About $240,000 was paid for his help through a public-relations firm. This more than likely violates some pretty old laws:
QUOTE(from the article)
* The Anti-Lobbying Act, a 1919 law, prohibits the use of any federal funds to 'directly or indirectly' influence government policy through any 'personal service, advertisement, telegram, telephone, letter, printed or written matter, or other device.'

* The Anti-Deficiency Act, dating to 1906, bars any government official from spending taxpayer dollars for any purpose not authorized by Congress.

Do you agree or disagree that these laws were broken? If so, who is responsible and what is the proper punishment?

Do you think we're entering a new trend of "privatized propaganda"?

That depends on who paid him, if it was by a government official, I assume that there is an already established penalty that should be pursued to the full extent of the law [holds his breath rolleyes.gif ].

Gee, I hope not. I would have to see this more than once to consider it a trend, but, again, I hope not.

Regardless of who actually made the transfer, I sense Karl Rove's hand in this. Last night there was a story on "Sixty Minutes" about dogs that are able to sniff out cancer. Someone needs to train a dog to pick up Rove's scent.

That's fine, but unless it is proven that someone from the government, or someone wtih direct ties to Bush did this, there seems to be no crime comitted.
