We had the women's liberation that supported women leaving the home, getting jobs and dumping the shackles of housework.

And all this came at the expense of men, who now had to pick up the slack in housework and child care.

But do men now need liberation? Should we expect more of women to carry OUR load?

I recently dated this woman whom wanted me to do all her repairs on her home and car. She wanted me to do the "manly stuff". But she still expected me to pick up my slack with other housework like washing clothes or vacuuming, etc.

We both worked, I made better money than her and paid most of the bills.

So why does she get off so easy??

I'm fixing the car, fixing the roof, installing the overhead fan, washing my clothes, cleaning my dishes.....and what did she do?

I think me should start demanding Men's Liberation. Women need to learn about cars, about tools, about "fixing stuff up".

Let's start a protest!!

You may want to come up with a formal question for debate in order to keep this thread alive. For now, let's assume your question is "Do men need liberation?"

Absolutely. I'm a feminist, and to me that means I want to free both women and men from the bondage of gender discrimination. I totally agree that it is unfair for anyone to assume that mechanical repairs and such are "men's work." It is equally unfair to assume that child care and housework are "women's work."

In my opinion, there is more discrimination that hurts women than there is discrimination that hurts men; this does not mean that I do not recognize sexism against men when it occurs. It must be protested strongly and fought against.
