I'll start with the disclaimer: DO NOT interpret the following to say that I in anyway believe that the mob's actions were in any way justified - there is NO justification for the murders they commited.

Now for the post:

This is the question that the media has not asked: doesn't this incident stress the need for better driver's education in this country? If the driver of the van was a fully educated driver that was completely alert and driving appropriately for his surroundings this would not have occured. We all need to appreciate, respect and educate ourselves regarding the powerful machines we use for transportation.

i think that the real issue here is not driver's education, it's the fact that people thought it was okay to beat two men to death as a result of a car accident. at this point, no one has said that they men plowed into a group of pedestrians on purpose. regardless, life was taken because of what?

this mob of people took lives. we are not in a country that takes an eye for an eye; we are in a country that tries to let the justice system deal with its problems.

i don't know what to think at this point, only that this mob was wrong.

I do believe that driver education is is a must in this country, however in this case it involved two men ages 49 and 62.......I'm sure that they have been driving for many years.....apparently is was an accident...it could have been a medical problem, heart attack,seizure,etc....or a mechanical problem, steering, brakes, tire blowout,etc........"it was not intentional"....The "Mob" action was uncalled for.... the metality of these people may be due to a lack of education but common sense say's you do not kill.....apparently they do not have common sense.......the 5 or 6 people who commited this murder should be brought to justice and all the others who were yelling "kill them!!..smash their heads!"..are just as guilty...Who are they to judge?....these men were pleading for their lives....How barbaric this society is becoming....I feel sorry for the youth of America...This reminds me of the way things were done in Afganistan... Now we are involved there...and we helped very much, ....but let's take care of America FIRST!!

Perhaps this mob violence incident is not the place for me to vent my frustration with bad driving. I concede the real issue is to find the murderers and bring them to REAL justice (not street justice).

There was a report on WLS radio out of Chicago stating that the police are frustrated with the fact that they are having trouble getting people to come forward as witnesses to this. Their inaction is as shameful as the mob of murderers'. If a person witnessed this and refuses to talk about it, no matter the reason, that person is as corrupted and brutish as the murderers themselves.

What needs to be done to understand and help certain neighborhoods in this country that are so jaded against our system of justice that they are willing to become murderers and supporters of murder?

Actually, the driver and passenger had been drinking. I don't condone their deaths, but a couple of black eyes and bloody noses would have been fine by me. I'd put my hands in my pockets, whistle towards the sky, and 'not see a thing'.

I don't know if you saw in the Tribune today all 6 men and the one 16 yr. old pleaded not guilty. I believe the next court date is Oct. 8th. Here goes another case that will cost tax payers millons. I will be interested to see how long this trail takes and how much it will cost us AGAIN! wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif
