I thought it would be nice to drop the political debate for a second, so I could let those of you who are actively participating in so many important debates know that I respect you all for your passion and for standing up for what you believe. Whether I agree with you or not, I've seen many compelling arguments, and only hope that I've shown you all some of the same.

The longer I participate here, the stronger the sense of community I feel with the rest of you who participate actively and constructively in these debates.

I would like to also send a specific thank you to Mike and Jaime, who provide us with what I believe is the most intelligent political debate forum online, today. They allow us to not have to deal with the nonsensical and profane attacks you find on other boards going unchecked, and create a comfortable forum for real, relevant discussion of issues important to all of us. THANKS MIKE AND JAIME!!!

Absolutely. I've participated in several political discussion boards over the past few years and this is the only one I've come across which hasn't eventually degenerated into flame wars. (I'm sure some here have noticed that I'm still carrying some of the baggage I've accumulated at such boards, though I am doing my best to try to unload it.) The credit for this goes entirely to Jaime and Mike and their combination of good will, judicious and uncompromising moderation, sense of humor, impressive stamina, and incredible time management skills. I don't know how they do it - but I'm sure glad they do.

We work really hard to keep this a civil place, and it's worth every minute. We love the fact that so many intelligent people with such differing views participate.

And we're only going to get better and better...
