Titus

WHATS CRACKALACKIN?

My name is Jerin, but I'm known by the fine folks here at AD as Titus. "Surely, you must be joking?", you say. No, I'm not joking. And don't call me Shirley.

I was born in sunny Orange, California. I was raised in the Anaheim/Fullerton area. (Disneyland, for those of you unfamiliar with the territory.) Fullerton is a great place to live, and I feel that it was partial to my political development. Orange County is a Republican stronghold and Fullerton is a liberal town. Best of both worlds, I suppose. A long, nasty story short, we ended up in San Bernardino, where I live currently.

For those of you that are curious, the moniker Titus comes from my favorite work by Shakespeare called Titus Andronicus. A gruesome tale of loyalty betrayed, innocence lost, and vengence, Titus is the main character who has his life made miserable by a vengeful barbarian queen and her two sons because he sacrificed he eldest. His oldest son is exiled after trying to save two other sons from an execution (based on a murder they were framed for), his daughter is raped and mutilated, and he severs his own hand (thinking he'll get his two framed sons back) only to find that he get *parts* of them back. In the end though, he gets the last laugh.

And that's why I picked Titus. Stay strong, though life deals you torment, and in the end, you'll get your chance to send it back.

I enjoy all sorts of music, except Ska...God I hate Ska..... I love films, especially Kurowsawa's. I like old films, like Ben-Hur, The Agony and The Ectasy and Cleopatra. I'm a huge hockey fan, but seeing as how the NHLPA and the players are a bunce of greedy ne'er-do-wells right now, I've shifted all of my focus on my Dodgers, who are kickin butt...that is, until August, when College Football starts...Go Trojans.

Spiritually, I guess, you'd say I was in limbo. I believe that there is no wrong faith. I believe that whether or not you ate meat on Friday, celebrated a birthday, or prayed to an elephant is going to keep you from a good afterlife as long as you did your best to live a good life.

I believe Christ could have very well and probably did get married and have children, because by doing so, he would have set an earthly example for men and their roles as husbands and fathers. Ignoring that seems to be a good excuse for men to have been able to treat women like dirt for the past 2000 years.

I believe in karma. I bellieve in a set of scales that can be tipped one way or the other by what you do here. I believe that we've all traveled this world countless times before. Some more than others. I believe that many of the same people we know now, we've had relationships with in the past. We're all connected through and extended circle of human rings.

I love history, especially that of the Far East. I'm fascinated by the paranormal. I believe that things are black or white...with some grey on occasion.

Politically, I'm a bit of a moderate. Yet, the only way you would see that, is if you took all my views as a whole, and not one at a time. Otherwise, one might call me a liberal (which I swear I'm not!) and the other might call me a neo-con (which I also swear I'm not!)

I believe that the U.S. shouldn't let the rest of the world determine what is good for us. I believe that the UN is utterly useless and corrupt, and that we need to be pro-active in seeking solutions to the problems of the world. And if that means unloading JDAMs on our enemies, so be it.

I also believe that the government has no business whatsoever in determining what we can or can not do in our personal lives. Who I want to marry and what I want to do with them in our bedroom (as long as they're of legal age and dont walk on four legs) is my freakin business.

I think abortion should only be used in the event of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is in danger. I think our borders need to be squeezed tight. I think that we need to end all trade with China and Vietnam, until they get their act together. I think we can end poverty if the government got their act together. I think all violent gangmembers should be summarily executed and that it's not society's fault for everyone's problems.

I believe that the nation's youth are becoming more and more divided along the lines of who gives a damn and who does not. I believe I should be able to own fifteen guns and be able to shoot all of them at a range because I'm a loyal, honest, law-abiding American citizen, and that all those who aren't shouldn't be able to even think about thinking of getting one.

I believe that this you're probably yawning right now and are saying to yourself, "Ye Gods! When is this fool going to stop?".

Well, in that case.... if anyone has any questions, gripes, complaints or praises, feel free to ask or comment.

You do realize that the character Titus Andronicus was mad, right?
Titus

Not completely. He actually feigns being mad towards the end in order to kiddnap the queen's sons... or was that simply a moment of clarity?
Victoria Silverwolf
That was a really fine introduction. smile.gif

I was born in Los Angeles, but I lived in Orange County for more than three decades -- Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia.

Titus,

You make it sould like this is an aberration in Shakespeare, rather than the norm!
Titus

The aberration is is how many people have ever read Shakespeare, let alone enjoying it.

Titus is tough because we talk via AIM or MSN almost daily and I feel that I know quite a bit. I could ask you how you really feel about China, but that'd be too easy tongue.gif

So - where did you come up with or first hear crackalackin? It has sort of become your trademark greeting and I have since started hearing a lot of people that I presume are completely unrelated using it.
Mike
Ahem...! I think I can answer this.... well, part of it... wink.gif

According to the chat logs, Titus has used the word "crackin" or "crackalackin" 41 times in total.

The first use, oddly enough, was when he was in the chat room by himself. laugh.gif

Jaime
Pardon my delayed response to your intro, Titus. I don't really have any interview-style questions for you because, like Cube, I chat with you via MSN and stop by your blog regularly. smile.gif

As Mike shows, Titus is a regular to the AD chatroom. Hang around late in the chatroom some hot summer night and you're bound to find him along with a handful of other hardcore ADers listening to Coast to Coast AM and laughing about what we hear. alien.gif

Because I'm a copycat and I'm bored.... an update....sort of....

I was in the military shortly, but left as an AWOL. It's a decision I regret to this day, and my actions do not in any way reflect a sense of disdain for the military or our troops. In fact, depending on the day, you can hear me sing the 82nd Airborne Division theme, the Army theme, or the Marine Corps Hymn. Some days, I sing all three in succession. w00t.gif

Band of Brothers is one of the best series ever.

I'm a huge hockey fan, and my Mighty Ducks look to be serious Cup conteders this year, and my father and I haven't been this excited about the team since....lthe last Cup run!

My Dodgers are tanking, (keep quiet, CJ!) but my University of Southern California Trojans are looking to three-peat the National Title! This fall is gonna be great!

Spiritually, I guess, you'd say I'm a mixed bag. I believe that there is no wrong faith. I believe that whether or not you ate meat on Friday, celebrated a birthday, or prayed to an elephant is going to keep you from a good afterlife as long as you did your best to live a good life.

I believe that the U.S. shouldn't let the rest of the world determine what is good for us. I believe that the UN is utterly useless and corrupt, and that we need to be pro-active in seeking solutions to the problems of the world, but do it in such a way fromnow on that involves more CIA training of foreign nationals and less of our own troops. I've recently had a mind-expanding discussion by which I've started to flirt with being more of a Social Darwinist, and thereby increasing my leanings toward being a Libertarian.

I also believe that the government has no business whatsoever in determining what we can or can not do in our personal lives. Who I want to marry and what I want to do with them in our bedroom (as long as they're of legal age and dont walk on four legs) is my freakin business.

I'm infuriated at the Republican Party for not knowing a good chance when they see it. We've had numerous chances to make America better, and thereby lock up the White House for decades, but the Party leaders seem intent on taking a shotgun to their feet, incessantly.

So why am I still with these guys? Cause there's a reckoning to be had soon by the moderates of both parties. Us moderates are fed up...and the time of deliverance is at hand! w00t.gif

Titus

Yet another annual bump for my introduction.....amended for 2006 of course....

I'm a huge hockey fan, and have been a Ducks fan since they started in Anaheim.

I would say I'm a Dodger fan but I usually only watch the games if I feel like taking a nap. That is until October comes around.

I'm also a huge University of Southern California fan. Unlike the above, I try not to miss a game each season.

Spiritually, I guess, you'd say I'm a mixed bag. I believe that there is no wrong faith. I believe that whether or not you ate meat on Friday, celebrated a birthday, or prayed to an elephant is going to keep you from a good afterlife as long as you did your best to live a good life.

From the 05 Intro

I believe that things are black or white...with some grey on occasion.

What I should have said was that life is both black and white alone, and grey. Paradoxical, who'd have thought.... blink.gif

I believe that the UN is utterly useless and corrupt, and that we need to be pro-active in seeking solutions to the problems of the world, but do it in such a way fromnow on that involves more CIA training of foreign nationals and less of our own troops. I try to blend in Social Darwinism with pro-active diplomacy. We should do what we can to help, but not at the expense of our men and women, our pocketbooks, or the self-motivation of others to empower themselves.

I think all violent gangmembers should be summarily executed....well, on most days.... I think gangs are the equivallent of terrorists and that it's not society's fault for everyone's problems.

I believe that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are both living and solid stone tenets of our nation. You do have the right against unreasonable search and seizure, but that doesn't mean the police have to knock on your door when you're home. You have the right against cruel and unusual punishment, but that doesn't mean it has to be easy on you. While I believe that this nation is undoubtedly influenced by a specific branch of faiths, that doesn't make it right for anyone, be they citizen or politician use the laws of this land to impose their faith-based morals on others through legislation.

Anyhow, that's all I'll spare you for now. Questions and comments are always welcome.

In fact, depending on the day, you can hear me sing the 82nd Airborne Division theme, the Army theme, or the Marine Corps Hymn.

Well one out of three ain't bad............The Army Song is pathetic, and if I have to hear "Put on your boots, boots, boots...and parachutes, chutes, chutes" one more time, I'll scream. But the Corps hymn is a masterpiece.
