Excellent news - congratulations. I think that, with population dynamics doing what they are, it is rather important that sensible intelligent people in the West have children, or else sensible intelligence as a quality is likley to disappear from our nations in the future.
Actually the trend is shifting back in the opposite direction in Denmark now so with luck, we'll soon put an end to this depressing situation.

I can recommend Sri Lanka, Mexico and the USA as places to visit (though I don't think I would ever seriously consider living anywhere outside Europe for any length of time).
Thank you. Quite a few people have recommended the USA to me, and all non Americans. I'd like to go there, most especially to see a space shuttle launch.

Really? Even in these death-averse times, is that not quite rare? At least compared to those (like me) that have, unfortunately, seen the sanitised (and refrigerated) bodies of loved-ones in artificially quiet rooms at funeral homes. Maybe I've just been unlucky.
I think perhaps I've led a very sheltered life. My brother served in the UN forces in Kroatia and Bosnia, after which he came back to Denmark and drove an ambulance for a few years. He's seen so many dead bodies in so many different situations its surreal.

She is a beautiful woman, but alas, my tastes run closer to Nina Wadia than Ms. Lawson...

Me too. And, like you, I don't see any particular contradiction between the two. I would hazard a guess that some American poster might not see how we can reconcile the two.
My own view is that, in general, guns really are more or less neutral. I think there is just a kind of critical mass - a mix of the number of guns in circulation, and the public perception of their appropriateness - above which they should be freely available, and bloew which they should be completely illegal. I can't speak for Denmark, but I think Britain is (a long way) below the threshold, and America is beyond it.
I think you are probably right.

That's very kind of you to say so. I think of you in much the same way. Indeed sometimes (on the occasional thread here,) I feel a kind of fellowship with you, not only in outlook but also as a veteran of that rubbishy old site we all first met on.
Maybe one day you might spell my name correctly, but I'm increasingly willing to forgive you for not doing so.
Well... all these foreign names sound the same to me
I shall pay attention to this spelling error in future.

Then you are luckier than me.

(Any single women out there want to go on a date. Especially if you look anything like the sainted Nigella?

)
Indeed. I am extremely fortunate in this regard. My GF was the first girl I encountered after I left home and we've been together ever since. It sounds so quaint, but the truth is I'm as much in love with her now as I was then, if not more so. Now we've decided to have children, I keep feeling guilty because I am so deleriously happy.

Look on the bright side. You will know when it begins to rain about five minutes before anyone else. I started seriously losing hair at 21, and was shiny-scalped by about 25, so I've had a long time to get used to it. This also means my self-image as an adult has never really included hair. I think it may be worse for you, since your self-image will need to change if you are ever to be content.
See that you do - the alternatives are looking as ridiculous as Donald Trump, with his Shredded-Wheat-hat effect comb-over, or Elton John, with his wig made of ginger nylon.
Fear not. I shall let my hair fade with the passage of time and lament its absence as a sign of my 'maturity'.
QUOTE
Impressive. Though it does make you sound vaguely cyborg-ish. Ever had any thoughts of running for Governor of California?
The 'borg eh?
Well I
was wearing an English primary school uniform at the time.
DoclotusThank you Doclotus.
I've been meaning to ask you for some time, is your user name one word, or Doc Lotus?
