If we harbor Posada, then Cuba should be allowed to harbor Osama bin Laden or any other terrorist. This administration swore to make life miserable for any country harboring, assisting or helping terrorists. That makes the United States guilty, according to the administration's own policy.

The organizations demanding Posada's arrest said they want him to be handed over to Venezuelan courts where he has an "outstanding trial for terrorism for his responsibility in the destruction in midair of a civilian Cubana airliner in Barbados in October 1976 with the loss of all 73 civilian passengers on board."

Posada told the New York Times in July 1998 that he directed the 1997 bombings of Havana hotels. A 32-year-old Italian tourist, Fabio Di Celmo, was killed at the Copacabana hotel. While in Venezuela in the 1970s, Posada oversaw the killing of Venezuelan leftists as head of the Intelligence and Prevention Services Division (DISIP) of the national police. In the 1980s Posada commanded the supply of munitions to the Nicaraguan contras from the CIA's Ilopango airbase in El Salvador.

Granma, along with The Miami Herald, said Posada was involved in a series of bombings at tourist locations in Cuba in 1997. Posada admitted masterminding the half-dozen bombings and suggested the action had been financed by Jorge Mas Canosa, the late founder of the Cuban American National Foundation.

Herald reports linked Posada to the bombings and said Cuban exiles in South Florida had provided $15,000 in funding. The next year, the New York Times quoted Posada as saying he was responsible for the bombings and that leaders of the Cuban American National Foundation had "supported" his efforts to topple Castro. Posada later said he lied to the newspaper, and denied a role in the bombings.

The U.S. government can deny asylum because of "a criminal history, or ties to terrorism or genocide," said Bill Strassberger, spokesman for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an arm of the Homeland Security Department. "It's decided on a case-by-case basis."

Based on the evidence, you think Posada murdered or helped murder civilians for political purposes?
If Posada did not have a hand in blowing up the airliner and has never masterminded any other bombing, is the fact that he claimed to have masterminded the hotel attacks enough to turn him over to Venezuela or Cuba, or to deport him to another country?
Is it ever okay to grant a person asylum if there is reason to believe the person has deliberately murdered civilians in order to promote a political agenda?
Do you think Posada will be permitted to stay in the US?
Did US insiders, either in the CIA or elsewhere in government, help Posada get into the US?
If Posada had no help, what does the appearance of Posada in Miami mean for our security, when he was reportedly on the terrorist watchlist?
