In our consumer culture have we allowed the restraints on open sexuality to be loosened too far?I don't think so...we're still one of the most sexually conservative societies, and I'm not sure we're getting any benefit from that.
Does Sex sell?
What were you sold on because of it?
Did it meet expectations?
Well, if it doesn't, then every marketing and advertising person in the US seems to be operating on a fallacy

. Personally, I don't think it holds much sway on me...but then most people probably think that, yet sex continues to sell. So, I'm probably wrong on this myself. While I think I understand that drinking a bunch of beer doesn't actually make women want to come over and have sex (despite what all the beer ads say), I also would much rather see a pretty woman in a commercial than not. So, I imagine Freud could have some fun with me....
As a Male/Female how do you view todays attitudes about sex in society?Hmmm... I'm not a Male/Female (just being a male), but I'll take a shot at it anyway

. Attitudes about sex in today's society (here in the US) are still very Victorian, in my mind. While you certainly see sex almost anywhere you look (advertising and movies)...its still somewhat of a taboo subject to sit down and discuss openly with someone. In fact, I think one of the reasons its so prevalent in media is because we're so secretive about it elsewhere....leading us to look to other avenues for it. I think our society still has a bunch of sexual hangups, and we'd be better off without them. In fact, this very thread indicates this. Sex is a natural function...what's wrong with seeing it protrayed in movies, etc? It's only a big deal because of our attitudes towards it. If we all talked more openly about sex, then there wouldn't be any benefit to having it in all our media, as there wouldn't be as much of a market for it.
