Ok, its getting closer and closer to election time, thank goodness, and I'd like to use this thread to really get down to the nitty gritty of the Bush record. You can bring into the thread anything you'd like, but let's avoid name-calling and other such activities, as it only takes away from the credibility of our posts.

Just tonight I was viewing an AOL poll regarding Bush's performance ratings on various issues, and though it is not a scientific poll, I thought the results were very interesting, indeed... Especially considering the huge number of people who participate in the poll.

Rate President Bush on Iraq:

48% · Poor 201,586
38% · Good 162,505
14% · Fair 59,426
Total votes: 423,517

Rate Bush on the war on terror:

44% · Good 184,514
31% · Poor 130,887
25% · Fair 107,818
Total votes: 423,219

Rate Bush on the economy:

53% · Poor 221,663
27% · Good 111,651
21% · Fair 88,005
Total votes: 421,319

Rate Bush overall:

45% · Poor 188,378
38% · Good 159,983
18% · Fair 74,196
Total votes: 422,557

One of the reasons I find these poll results so interesting is that AOL polls, traditionally, have always gone "the way of the Republican"... Usually by a really fair margin, too. This gives me a great deal of hope for 2004. If he keeps moving like he has been, we could run Mike Dukakis and STILL win the next election. w00t.gif

The number of failings of this man are enormous... His legacy will be that of regression and the dismantling of over 50 years of peace-brokering. There's also going to be the legacy of this sudden power of our government to remove various lines from the Constitution to make way for "the war on terror", via the Patriot Act and the Total Information Awareness Act. Every administration in history has attempted to sway the translation of Constitution to their own ends, of course... But none before have so blatantly tried to completely ignore it. He swore to preserve, protect and defend it, and has done anything and everything but. 2004 cannot come soon enough for me.

What I hope those polls indicate is what I was hoping all along. That deep down American's are good caring people. It just takes them/us longer to figure things out. I hope this isn't a fickle period and people are really understanding what is going on.

Thanks for pointing out that poll though, which shows only a 7% gap between Bush and somebody, they don't even know who, yet, and 22% undecided. Very interesting reading if you look at the whole thing. cool.gif

Bush doesn't have a huge lead. He hasn't done anything for a very long time. I see his Bush losing popularity until the war with Iraq. He has sort of forced himself to only talk about Iraq. He can't talk about the economy because it is so bad. He can't talk about social issues like abortion because it is too polarizing ( by talk I mean say nothing while standing in front of a backdrop). I think Bush can lose because he never says anything. If a democrats comes along and talks about issues he might win.

Let me explain about the AOL poll... I disclaimed that the poll was unscietific. (Al Gore Mode: ON)... By "unscientific", I mean that it reflects the opinions of only those who choose to participate. (Al Gore Mode: OFF)

Anyhoo...
The reason, as I said, that I find the results so intreguing is that AOL polls, usually by quite a decent margin, tilt to the right. I didn't mean to offend you with my AOL. tongue.gif wink2.gif

That's OK Stefan. I shouldn't be posting here anyway. shifty.gif flowers.gif
