Out of the wide variety of food that we have access to in this country and age, what type of food do you enjoy the most?

I prefer seafood. Nothing else comes close for me. I find nearly every type of seafood to be extremely tasty, not to mention rich in essential nutrients. Granted, there is the risk of contamination in certain types of seafood from certain areas, but other types of food (such as beef) have their own risks.

My favorite foods are taco salad; and beens, greens and cornbread. I also have a tendancy to try a new food first before I say I like it or don't. In addition, I'll eat most any food you put infront of my face. mrsparkle.gif

I'm with you with respect to Sushi.

Japanese cuisine is my favorite, by far. I could eat it for every meal the rest of my life.

Back where I come from what y'all call Sushi we call Bait. tongue.gif

My favorite dinner is a perfectly done prime rib, baked potato loaded with butter, cheese and bacon. If someone insists on something green along with it, I'll have a tossed salad, bleu cheese dressing.

I have to admit that I like almost all food flavors and cuisines. blush.gif Indian? Great. Thai? Awesome. Mexican? Bring it on! Good steak? What could be better? Sushi? Delicious! There're very few things that I won't eat, and it includes sauerkraut, "Seledka pod shuboi" (Dressed Herring - Russian), Zeppellinai (Lithuanian), Frog legs (although I love the rest of French cuisine), and kidney pie.

I prefer seafood.  Nothing else comes close for me.

I usually eat a piece or two of deep fried battered haddock on Thanksgiving at a restaurant in Canada. Beyond that, you will have no competition from me for seafood. I don't swim, and I try to avoid eating anything that does.

My favorite food has to be bread, warm from the oven with butter or stawberry preserves.

Sushi = fishbait

I am a diehard Cajun fan. Anyone ever eat at a Copelands I could die in one very happy.

I have to admit my guilty pleasure is spagettios with meatballs. I could eat them forever. blush.gif

Oh yeah and crab puffs--not to mention soft shell crab hoagies

Did I mention clams casino?

Or pizza--especially hawaiian pizza

or a burger from Backyard Burger--which is not availible out here in the West sad.gif

Ooh Chili fries

corn dogs

Jello

mozzarella sticks with country gravy

biscuits and gravy........................

I could live on fresh, hot, crusty sourdough bread. (Bread 'n' taters are my nemeses.)

Love: a fine thick steak cooked medium rare served with a California Cabernet Sauvignon, most seafood, especially crab cakes, good old fashioned Southern soul food and barbeque, Cajun, Greek, Mexican, Italian food, Tommy burgers, In n Out's french fries, Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra (guilty pleasure)....gee, I'm getting hungry now...

Hate: Japanese food (except teppan grill), all Korean food (blurgh! sour.gif ), sauerkraut, escargot, liver and other organ meats...ok, not hungry anymore. laugh.gif

Anything italiano is good to me. Anyone with an italian grandmother knows what i am talking about. You want the best food? Sunday dinners. Pasta in the meat gravy with pork and beef for after.

Other than that, i am a good old fashionede carnivore. Give me a steak with a baked potato and i'm good!

"Aaaaaaaah...Foooooood...." (In my best Homer Simpson imitatation)...I couldn't find a "Drooling" Smilie...so... thumbsup.gif

I suppose my favorite type of cuisine is Mexican, followed very closely by Italian.

I grew up moving up and down the California coast between Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara so it makes sense considering the huge influences of Mexican and Italian culture. It also occurs to me that both types share many of the same foundational ingredients: Meat, Cheese, Tomatoes, Spices, and Wheat or Corn (Pasta or Tortillas).

Having said that, an absolute staple would be the classic Central/Southern California BBQ consisting of BBQ Beef Tri-Tip, spicy Ranch Style beans, hot buttered corn-on-the-cob, garlic bread, and tossed green salad...Oh, and your ice cold beer of choice of course!

I could go on and on but, can't leave out the wonderful and miraculous AVACADO! We had 30 Avacado trees out back and they found their way into many dishes. I know they are pretty expensive most places but treat yourself on occasion to your own fresh Chips and Guacamole.

Talk about a hearty snack:

Find a good Guacamole recipe and make it!

Take a dozen (or two) corn tortillas and cut them into chips and fry them yourself and serve hot with the Guacamole (and Salsa and sour cream...)

DROOOL! mrsparkle.gif

Is Mexican food more influenced by the Iberian elememnt or the Amerindian element? I'd think that the cheeses would be from Iberia, and some of of the spices and corn from Central America. But all in all, which do you think is a bigger factor?

Gosh! I hope I didn't come across as some kind of culinary expert! I just eat the stuff. And I swear I meant no disrespect by ommiting any Aboriginal contributions.

Better ask Emeril on that one. laugh.gif

FAVORITE FOODS.....Hmmmmm...

well, first off, I don't touch sea food unless the weird fishy taste is deep-fried out of the sucker (ie. Long John Silver's, frozen fish sticks).

I would have to say that i have three favorite foods.

1. Boneless chicken brests sprinkled with seasoned salt and laid on top of a pan of soft rice mixed with Cambpell's cream of mushroom and set to bake 'till perfection.

2. My Uncle Bruce's cookies. anyone having the privilege of tasting these cookies know who he is and probably who I am, for that matter... tongue.gif

3. A well made hamburger topped with a giant portabella (or is it portabello?), bacon, and lots of cheddar cheese.

very good stuff!

I can still picture freshly made pasta hanging from any place available in my grandmother’s kitchen. She made two types of sauce, both from scratch: Sicilian style which was more like soup in consistency but very flavorful topped with pulled beef (used to flavor the sauce) that was a meal on it’s own, and the traditional thick style which she would cook for almost an entire day and was not to be eaten until two days later.

But my favorite is Asian (including sushi) and Kung Pau is top of the list.

I love talking about food! Thankfully, we just finished dinner so I don't have to sit here and think about all of these delicious foods on an empty stomach thumbsup.gif

My favorite foods are:

chocolate
chocolate chip cookies & milk
lamb (with garlic butter)
ravioli with either a tomato alfredo sauce or garlic butter sauce (surprise, surprise)
buffalo mozzarella cheese
a really good, NY deli-style Salisbury Steak (hold the fungus, please)

I seriously believe that I could live on these six things for the rest of my life (though I doubt it would be a very long one with that diet blink.gif ) and be perfectly content

In terms of cuisine, I prefer Italian and Greek (for obvious reasons). I really miss the pita shops in Belgium sad.gif

I'm an extremely picky eater (won't touch fruit unless it's in juice form, only like four vegetables, don't like condiments other than ketchup and sweet BBQ sauces, etc.), so my options are severely limited in a lot of international cuisines. I hate spicy foods (black pepper is too spicy for me), so that knocks out a whole lot of options, too.
