I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I would like to see more spontaneous use of the AD chat room by its members (not including the scheduled chats; though, let's not forget them anyway smile.gif ). I don't know the opinion of the wonderful administrators and moderators, but I'd say the chat room is for our enjoyment--let's use it more often. mrsparkle.gif thumbsup.gif

I agree completely with crashfourit. It is such a great feature and we should take advantage of it more! I know that I enjoy the scheduled chats very much and would like to see people do more "informal" chats as well.

Let's all promise to check in on the chat room more. flowers.gif flowers.gif

Yep, the chatroom is always open, and everyone is welcome to use it whenever the please. smile.gif

I try to hang out in there on evenings and weekends, and it is usually just Crash and me.

As a bit of a reminder, you can see who is in the chat room by looking at the bottom of the forum index page ( http://www.americasdebate.com/forums ). The active chatters are updated every few minutes.

You can also see how many people are in the chatroom at the top of any forum page. If there are people active in the chat room, there will be a number next to the "Chat" button.

Heres the problem...

You click on chat, and nobodys in the room. Consequently, you dont go in. Sooner or later, somone else clicks on chat. Theres no one in it, so they dont go in either...

It is hit or miss, really. I have sat in the chat room for several days without a single person stopping in to say hello. But, I have also gone in the chat room and, within minutes, had five or ten people show up. It is really just the luck of the draw.

There are no rules against posting in Casual Conversation to let people know you are in the chat. That usually helps get people in there.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the chat statistics are cached, and update a maximum of once every three minutes, and even then only when the forum index page is loaded. So, if you only hang out for a minute or two, and nobody hits the forum index page after you logged in, the chat statistics may have never updated to even show that you are there!

Also, make sure you stop by the scheduled chats. There is usually a pretty good turnout, and they are a heck of a lot of fun.
